Weardale
Weardale was once the hunting forest for the Prince Bishops of Durham, second only in size to the King's New Forest. By the sixteenth century deer-parks had gone out of fashion and the Bishop was reaping huge rewards from Weardale's lead-mining industry and later in the nineteenth century from limestone quarrying in Weardale, which have both left a rich industrial heritage in the valley.
Weardale is one of my favourite areas for taking photos and I'm still exploring it looking for different views. Apologies for the fact that a number of images are taken from the same viewpoint; this is so I can record the change in the landscape throughout the year.
Sometimes I am frustrated in not being able to take the image that I want because I can't get to a suitable vantage point!
